a christmas challenge

Holy Monkeys!!!
Can you believe that it is Christmas Eve already?
I have no idea where the second half of 2009 disappeared to. It seemed as though one minute it was July, and the next minute we were putting up the Christmas Tree.
Does this mean I’m getting old?
I mean, can you remember the anticipation when you were young? You thought that Christmas would never come. Eternal days of waiting? Counting down the sleeps? It was painful!
And all those old people would talk about how time had flown… and how it just seemed like yesterday since it was Easter… I think I just answered my own question. Yes – I am getting old…
(not that there’s anything wrong with that)
So…
What I really wanted to say here, was a ginormous Happy Holidays to all my wonderful readers. It’s a joy to know that you are all out there, a group of like-minded souls who are as passionate about craft as I am. Thanks for your support during this last year – and I don’t say that lightly. It’s probably been the toughest year of my life, and you words of wisdom and encouragement have been a huge help to me. VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! Honestly
So I’m heading off on a beach holiday after Christmas. Yes… Summer is alive and well here in Australia – and it’s time to take the kids away for some R & R.
Okay… I’m being delusional… With kids there will neither be REST nor RELAXATION… but we will have FUN!
(Ooooh. Just had a twinge of guilt as I realise I haven’t even touched those two giant bags of Alpaca fleece, which I bought on my last Summer holiday. What were we saying about how time flies???)
So… no posts from me for a couple of weeks. But of course the crafting will continue…
And I have a challenge for you over this holiday season…
Are you up for it???
It’s called the Holiday Trash Bash:
It’s a recycling challenge, and the idea is to use at least three of the following items to make ANYTHING you like
- toilet paper rolls
- scrap fabric
- wrapping paper
- tissue paper
- bottle caps
- old Christmas cards
- used CDs
- old credit cards/gift cards
- ribbon
These materials are all in plentiful supply during the holidays – and could be combined in any number of different ways. What would you create???
Head on over to the FROM TRASH TO TREASURES group at Ravelry. Or click here to link directly to the HOLIDAY TRASH BASH thread for more details.
I challenge you to join us!
C’mon… I know you have some brilliant ideas already churning around inside your head… and there will be even more once you see all the trash you create at Christmas…
What’s stopping you?
(oh… and if you haven’t seen the Rag Wreath before, I made it last Christmas, and blogged about it here and here)

Merry Christmas! Thanks for the link, I’ve joined that group now. More inspiration to propel me through another crafty year
I agree, this year has flown by, but I love Christmas, so I’m just enjoying the moment.
Have a great Christmas, and enjoy your summer beach holiday. (Not jealous, while enjoying icy rain here!)

Deep snow here – I love the idea of the challenge, but gotta get through Christmas first – then am going to get inspired!
Have a lovely sunny festive break!

I love your site and your blog. Follow it always, even if I don’t leave comments. The wreath is BEAUTIFUL, and I am often, almost always, inspired by what you do to reuse materials in my home, making dolls, sock monkeys, sweaters, bags, boxes, whatever. Thank you thank you.
