out of hibernation…

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

So this bag is one that I would have made a few years back. Definitely before I started blogging, anyway.
Yes. There was life before blogging!
So it’s been in hibernation for quite some time. Again, all it really needs is ‘finishing off’… a lining and some embellishment should work nicely.
I’m not all that jazzed about the [...]

finished object friday…

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Okay…
The craft room is still not entirely sorted out. I’ll get there – just not today!
What has really surprised me though, is the number of unfinished projects (UFOs) that I have come across while cleaning up.
Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised.
I mean, it’s not like I don’t know that I have a tendency NOT to finish [...]

I picked this book up from the local library this week…
and from what I have seen so far, I LOVE IT!!!

Mostly, I am happy to just flip through a book and look at the pictures. I mean, I know it’s really lazy… but that’s all I can be bothered doing. I just look at the [...]

Here’s something really special which I forgot neglected to blog about earlier…
This magnificent crochet hook was hand carved from Australian Red Gum… by Jimbo the extraordinary whittler!
Jimbo sells his hand carved treasures over on his blog here… and every now and then there is a GIVEAWAY.
Well – I was fortunate enough to be the winner [...]

Over at Crochet Lovers Victoria, we had a Valentines Day Competition…
The idea was to design and crochet a gift for a loved one, and to incorporate a heart somewhere in the design.
As always, I left it until the last minute. Not because I wanted to, but just [...]

So I made a start with that teeny-tiny hook and the embroidery thread leftovers…

I’m keeping all the knots to the outside of my work. The plan is to turn the piece inside out when I am finished, and then hide the knots with a lining.
But I’m starting to quite like the look of them… so [...]

and now for the scraps…

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

If you have ever worked an embroidery from a kit before, then you will know that there are loads of threads left over when you finish. They’ve all been precut into lengths, so there’s a limit to what you can use them for.
I used to keep them for any time I wanted to work up [...]

finished stitching

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Well… the goal was to finish this by Christmas 2009…
a goal that I didn’t QUITE meet – but I did FINISH – and that’s the main thing!

Now that it’s done, I will need to give it a gentle wash to remove any dirty marks and oils from my grubby little fingers… and then it’s off [...]
